Day 8

Today has been a much better day. We now have a better idea about which roads to take in France and we covered 110 miles. The roads were beautifully quiet and flat and straight, and we spent most of the day cycling past wheat fields or with trees on either side. It is easy to see how the tour de france is so popular, because France is really quite perfect for cycling. We also passed through some interesting towns such as Saint Quentin. Here they had filled the entire town square with sand so that it resembled a beach and all the children were running about in their swimming costumes.
We've stopped tonight in a town called Reims and it is quite lively. We're having a drink at a bar in the main square and someone is playing the accordion.

Great to hear you had a better day. We were worried about you yesterday but knew you would get through it. At least the flip flops would be useful on the "beach" in St Quentin. Keep enjoying France and don't drink too much wine.

Bonjour Boys,

Glad you had a good run at it today, must be very tough, particularly in the heat! However, Ricardo and Gianluca look pretty relaxed in the pic (are those large wines and whisky chasers on the table?) so can't be that tough eh ;)

In all seriousness you're doing fantastically well and we wish you all the best of luck for the rest of the journey!
